The Transit Center

A transit is a planet in today's sky touching a planet in the chart you were born with. Every transit tool, class, and lesson on the site is gathered here, in the order a newcomer needs them.

What do you want to do?

Transits in 60 seconds

Your birth chart is a snapshot that never changes. The planets kept moving after you were born. When a moving planet lines up with one of your birth planets, that's a transit. Think of it as a visitor knocking on a door in your chart.

The visitor

Transiting planet

The planet in today's sky. It brings its own job: Saturn brings structure, Jupiter brings growth.

The resident

Natal planet

The planet in your birth chart being visited. It tells you what part of you is involved.

The knock

Aspect

The angle between them. Some visitors move in, some open doors, some put up detour signs.

The room

House

Where in your life it shows up: home, work, love, money, health, and so on.

One sentence reads any transit Transiting [visitor] [knock] my natal [resident], in the room of [house].

How long does a transit last?

Speed matters most. Fast planets bring moods and days. Slow planets bring chapters of your life.

Moona few hours
Sun, Mercury, Venusa few days
Marsabout a week
Jupiterweeks to months
Saturn, Chironmonths, often a year
Uranus, Neptune, Plutoone to three years

Retrograde planets back up and pass the same point again, so a slow transit often hits three times: once forward, once backward, once forward again.
